A Fresh Commitment

The Post, the student newsroom at Ohio University, is one recipient of this year’s Student Media Challenge grants from the Solutions Journalism Network. Recently, Abby Waechter, one of The Post’s executive editors, wrote about why the outlet pursued the grant and how the team will use solutions journalism. A team of more than 20 people will be covering the opioid epidemic in Athens County, Ohio, through a solutions lens. Waechter’s piece is a strong statement of purpose and humility, and it’s a model for newsrooms who want to talk about their solutions reporting.
