'Far Beyond Campus Lines'

At the beginning of the academic year, Abby Waechter, editor-in-chief of The Post at Ohio University, published a piece sharing the student newsroom’s solutions journalism goals for readers. Since then, as part of SJN’s Student Media Challenge, the outlet has done extremely well in its solutions reporting. To conclude the year, Abby wrote a new piece, surveying how the approach impacted the student journalists and their community. “Solutions journalism is not a one-time project for The Post,” she writes. “It’s a commitment we plan to carry forward, continuing to ask not only what challenges our community faces, but how people are working to address them.”
