Alexis L. Richardson is an editor and content strategist with more than 20 years of journalism, multimedia and instructional experience. Her areas of expertise include audience development, copy editing and cultural competency. She’s a regular Digital Editor with NPR’s Next Generation Radio project; a trainer and Communications Director with Headway Training; and a content creator who began her career as a newspaper photojournalist with The News & Observer and The Fayetteville Observer.

Her experience in the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam encompasses over a decade of teaching English language arts, journalism and mass media; working as a travel editor for a ubiquitous search engine; and leading strategy as Chief Innovation Officer for a lifestyle publication. Her passion for mentoring reporters, writers, and freelancers facilitated her recent editing collaboration with The GroundTruth Project coaching Report for America corps members for Agents of Change: Community Efforts to Overcome Racial Inequities. Through a solutions journalism lens, the series highlights how community initiatives address racial inequalities at the grassroots level.

Alexis’ editorial chops are underscored by a dedication to inclusive storytelling, and success leveraging search engine optimization (SEO) and data-driven trend analysis, plus optimizing user conversion, and publishing and sharing opportunities. As an independent consultant, Alexis continues her track record of transforming publications and expanding audiences, and providing mindfulness-based coaching and facilitation.
