Mongabay’s Senegal-based director of programs David Akana recently went on a reporting trip to the Central African Republic. There he saw “remarkable places and ecotourism that is beginning to work — imperfectly, but measurably.” Reflecting on the trip, he connected with a piece of what makes solutions journalism important and found a new way to respond to a concern some journalists have.
