Solutions Story Tracker

The Solutions Story Tracker is an invaluable resource for those teaching — or learning — solutions journalism. This well-vetted story repository contains 17,500 stories from 102 countries, providing a rich array of story models in multiple media forms.

You can use “advanced search” to filter by format (e.g. radio, podcast, video), issue area, length and many other criteria. Selecting “student journalism” will highlight stories that may seem more attainable to your students.

Some helpful ways to use the Tracker include finding:

  • Stories for students to annotate
  • Story models for students to follow
  • Responses from the past that can be revisited
  • Experts who can be interviewed
  • Journalists who can speak about their reporting process

You can also submit your students’ published work to the Tracker. If their work is accepted, it is great validation of their achievement — and yours as their teacher. If it doesn’t, they will get helpful feedback about where their story fell short.
