LEDE Fellowship
Journalism entrepreneurs accelerated the spread of solutions journalism in 2020-23.
The LEDE Fellowship connected and supported journalism entrepreneurs with the goal of accelerating the spread of solutions journalism and creating meaningful impact. We looked for projects that:
- (L)everage the network: Fellows familiarized themselves with and sought out the expertise and resources of journalists, community members and others whose work is relevant to their project.
- (E)ngage the community: Fellows connected with, supported and/or celebrated other journalists doing solutions journalism as well as engaged with the community that the journalism informs.
- (D)isseminate the knowledge: Projects produced (or catalyzed the production of) more solutions journalism. Projects also were designed to create insights for fellow journalists, newsrooms and other solutions journalism practitioners in our broader network.
- (E)levate what — or who — is missing: Successful projects helped tell the whole story about what’s working by amplifying marginalized voices and telling stories that problem-focused reporting misses.
