Directory FAQs
Launched in 2023, the Solutions Journalism Directory highlights people around the world committed to creating and sharing rigorous and compelling reporting on responses to social problems.
The directory connects and visualizes the people and organizations invested in solutions reporting. This first-of-its-kind resource allows people interested in solutions journalism to connect directly with others. You can use the directory to build connections, strengthen your network and contribute toward the momentum of transforming journalism and spreading the practice of solutions journalism around the world.
The directory includes both organizations and individuals. Organizations include newsrooms and collaboratives producing or republishing solutions journalism; institutions providing training in or support for solutions journalism; educational institutions including journalism schools that are teaching solutions journalism; and nonprofits and other organizations frequently sharing solutions journalism with their networks.
The directory also includes individuals, such as media organization leaders committed to solutions journalism in their organizations; journalists championing solutions journalism in their work or newsrooms; journalists willing to share their solutions journalism experience with students; educators teaching solutions journalism or using solutions journalism in the classroom; Solutions Journalism Network fellows; and academic researchers focused on solutions journalism.
Does this sound like you? Join the directory! We have signup forms available in English, French and Spanish.
The information you share will be used to populate your directory listing on the Solutions Journalism Network website. We will never sell or transfer your information to third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. We may use your information to link you to opportunities and connections within our network. View our privacy policy.
Joining the directory is a free way to plug into the worldwide solutions journalism movement. By joining, you can share your mission with a global community of journalists, educators and organizations who care about rigorous reporting on responses to social problems, connect with peers and potential collaborators, and stay in the loop on opportunities that match your interests and goals.
Plus, as a small thank-you for being part of this community, directory members are automatically entered into a raffle. Every other month, we randomly select one directory member. They get a session with the SJN-er of their choice to talk about anything around which they'd like some support. Story ideas? Fundraising with SoJo? Teaching it? Engagement? We got you. Doing good work should come with community support, and at least a little fun.
An all-teach, all-learn philosophy is at the heart of the Solutions Journalism Network. Each of us has much to offer others, and support that we can receive from others. Sharing your "offers" and "asks" is an optional way to invite connection with others in the network.
You may update or delete your directory listing at any time by contacting SJN's technical director, Marie von Hafften.
We'd love to know all about it! Send us an email or submit an impact story.
