Based in:

English

The Christian Science Monitor is an international news organization offering calm, thoughtful, award-winning coverage for independent thinkers.

HOW TO PITCH:

We are looking for stories of 800-1200 words that illuminate the people and ideas behind the news. These pieces generally fall into two categories: news analysis or features. We are particularly interested in stories that are solutions-oriented and people-focused. We pay $600 per accepted story, plus a separate fee for photos.

We like stories about progress, highlighting solutions to global problems and showcasing what’s working in the world. But we expect writers to approach these stories with the same critical eye they would any other. If your pitch sounds like a press release for an NGO or copy lifted from a startup’s website, it will also be a quick no.

Who to pitch:
- Africa: Ryan Brown (brownr@csps.com)
- Latin America: Whitney Eulich (eulichw@csps.com)
- Asia: Lindsey McGinnis (mcginnisl@csps.com)
- Middle East: Ken Kaplan (kaplank@csps.com)
- Other international stories: Peter Ford (fordp@csps.com)
- US stories about people making a difference: Lydia Rebac (rebacl@csps.com)
