Darren Schuettler


Darren Schuettler is a journalism instructor with three decades of experience as a reporter, editor, newsroom leader and trainer for Reuters in Asia, Africa and North America.

His 26-year career at Reuters News Agency included roles as a financial reporter in Canada, Southern Africa deputy bureau chief, Thailand bureau chief and APAC training editor based in Singapore.

As a consultant for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, he specializes in training on climate change themes such as locally-led adaptation, the energy transition and labour rights, and ESG corporate reporting.

He also delivers solutions journalism training for the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in Asia.

Darren is a board member of the Climate Disaster Project based in Canada, where he studied climate science and policy at Royal Roads University. The CDP is an international teaching newsroom for young journalists to learn trauma-based interviewing and solutions reporting skills to surface the untold stories of climate disaster survivors.
