English

Next City’s journalism centers marginalized voices while amplifying solutions to the problems that oppress people in cities.

HOW TO PITCH:

We are always open to pitches on strong urban solutions stories, but we are particularly interested freelance pitches for solutions-oriented reported news stories on the following topics: strategies for dealing with federal cuts (especially for local governments, nonprofits and service providers), transportation and mobility, and Indigenous-led development.

Our typical flat rate is $400 USD.

Send pitches to managing editor Aysha Khan (aysha@nextcity.org) with “News pitch” in the subject line, along with a description of your story idea.
