The Philadelphia Citizen
The Philadelphia Citizen is a nonprofit media outlet that uses solutions journalism and calls to civic action to revive democracy and citizenship in the American city where it was born.
HOW TO PITCH:
The Philadelphia Citizen is the only local nonprofit media outlet that combines solutions journalism and calls to action to increase civic engagement and revive democracy in the American city where it was born. We do this through stories on our website and podcast; live events; and activations.
We are always on the look out for smart data-driven solutions stories from within Philadelphia, and from cities around the world, through our Ideas We Should Steal column, which features solutions from other cities that could also solve problems here in Philly. That can be anything from education to economic opportunity, housing, transportation, climate, criminal justice, cleaning and greening. We mostly look for stories about 1000 words. Please read through the website to see what we do. We are happy to talk through pitches that have potential.
Rate: $300-$500 per piece, depending on experience and complexity of piece.
Send pitches to edit@thephiladelphiacitizen.org.
