Last week, the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication released results from a fall 2023 study. It has unpacked more data from that study, and found some relevant information for the solutions-minded among you: When those surveyed were asked about what they’d want to discuss with a climate expert, 44% (the largest proportion) chose solutions. Those numbers were highest among people classified as “alarmed” or “concerned” about climate change, and it should be noted solutions didn’t make a huge dent among the disengaged or doubtful, though we’ve seen anecdotal evidence that solutions-focused coverage can help there, too. All in all, the study has wonderful insights into how to report for those with differing perceptions of climate change.
